A number of products have been recalled by major supermarkets due to health and safety concerns.

Items have been pulled from the shelves in Sainsbury's, Asda, Waitrose, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Iceland this week over fears they could pose a danger to customers.

Items pulled from the shelves include Tropicana fruit juice, Quorn burgers and Dorset Cereals museli.

Raw Chocolate Goji Berries have been found to contain traces of metal, while an ongoing listeria scare has seen some salmon, spinach and frozen veg products recalled.

If you have any of these products, do not consume them but take them back to the store for a full refund.

Some packs of Essential Waitrose Fruit and Nut Muesli and Dorset Cereals gloriously roasted nut muesli may contain a small quantity of grains which have not been properly milled.

The grains are hard and may cause discomfort if bitten.

As a precautionary measure customers are advised not to eat these products with the above date codes.

No other Dorset Cereals products are affected.

A lemon meringue truffle has been discovered with a small fragment of plastic truffle mould and supermarkets have recalled anything from a similar date as a precaution.

Sainsbury's croissants

All butter croissants are being wiped from the shelves of Sainsbury's supermarkets due to an almond filling not declared on the packaging.

An urgent product recall will mean that people who have bought these pastries will need to return them to the nearest store, immediately.

A statement from the Food Standards Agency said the croissants concerned are those from the in-store bakery which come in single and double packs.

It is feared those with a nut allergy may eat the product without knowing what is inside it.

In the first instance, check the packet for codes 6542882 and 6543827.

Baby Spinach from Lidl

Lidl Ireland is recalling its 'Baby Leaf Spinach' from its stores because it contains Listeria Monocytogenes.

No other Lidl Ireland products are known to be affected.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

All batches of Boksburg Blue Cheese have been recalled from Tesco stores because it has been made without approval.

The cheese, produced by Carmarthenshire Dairy Products Ltd, was sold in a small number of Tesco stores around the country.

Notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling this product. Customers are advised not to eat the cheese and to return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Tesco nuts

Tesco is urgently recalling a batch of its Organic Almonds due to the presence of salmonella.

The nuts come in a resealable see-through plastic pouch, and have a green Organic logo on the front.

If you have bought the almonds, do not eat them, and instead return them to your nearest store for a full refund.

You will not need a receipt to return them.

The almonds come with the batch code L8004010, which can be found on the back of the packet.

The supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has found that labels on some of its biscuits have not declared that they contain sesame.

Sainsbury's frozen vegetables

Sainsbury’s have recalled another set of frozen food items due to potential listeria risk.

Last month, 43 items were recalled from supermarkets such as Tesco, Lidl, Waitrose, Aldi and Iceland following a listeria outbreak scare.

That number is now in excess of 50.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, prior to the recall in July, there had been as many as 47 cases of listeria across Europe.

The cases were linked to a Hungarian company that had sourced frozen vegetables.

The risk is chemical as the product contains hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching substance (measured concentration up to 11.9% by weight).

Hydrogen peroxide at high concentrations causes skin irritation and is harmful if swallowed.

The product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

The risk is described as 'serious'.

Fazila Foods - Five-pack large kebab rolls

Five large lamb kebab rolls, five large chicken kebab rolls with dates up to November 28, 2019.

As a precautionary measure Fazila Foods Limited are recalling the above lines due to the omission of allergens (milk and sulphites) from the ingredient declaration.

The products contain milk and sulphites making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk and sulphites.

Any customers who have bought the above products should return them to store for a full refund.

Crosse & Blackwell is recalling its Green Vegetable & Kale Soup because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The product is only sold in Asda stores.

No other Crosse & Blackwell products are known to be affected.

Lidl potato croquettes

Lidl Ireland is recalling Harvest Basket potato croquettes from its stores in Northern Ireland because they contain wheat and egg which are not written in English on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg, wheat or gluten.

No other Lidl Ireland products are known to be affected.

The pack size is 750g and it has a best before date of March 27, 2020. The batch code is L808603001.

Listeria warning in smoked salmon

A batch of smoked salmon has been recalled after it contains bacteria which cause flu symptoms.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced that Ewing Seafoods is recalling its organic smoked salmon because it contains Listeria monocytogenes.

Diamond Sea Food frozen mackerel

A number of batches of frozen mackerel are being recalled by Diamond Sea Food Ltd due to presence of histamine.

High levels of Histamine can cause poisoning in people, and symptoms resemble an allergic reaction. Other symptoms include nausea, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea, itching, oral burning sensation, red rash, flushing of the face and hypotension.

Anyone who has bought the products should return them for a refund.
