Empty Restaurant Building In Des Plaines Will Soon Serve Seafood, Steaks

The site of several restaurants over the years will soon become another sit-down dining eatery on Algonquin Road in Des Plaines.

La Marina restaurant will soon occupy a currently empty building at 1261 E. Algonquin Rd. near Lee Street. The business will feature mostly seafood and steaks, according to owner Maria Ayala.

Des Plaines aldermen are expected to give initial approval for a license to serve liquor in the restaurant that seats 250.

In the past the 14,000 sq. ft. building has been home to Jake’s Pizza, Cancun City and Delicias Mexican restaurants.

Ayala, who owns and operates a restaurant in Romeoville, said she hopes to open the Des Plaines location within about two months. Approximately nine people will be employed there.

Besides the restaurant and bar the property also features a patio area for customers.
