Pizza? Wings? Subs? Super!

Especially on Super Bowl Sunday.

Feb. 4 is one of the biggest party days of the year with an estimated 188.5 million people expected to watch the Philadelphia Eagles face the reigning champ New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

It's the same number of viewers as last year but they're expected to spend more, according to the National Retail Federation's annual Super Bowl Spending Survey. Consumers will spend an average of $81 each for a total of $15.3 billion up from $14.1 billion in 2017, the survey found.

More people are planning to attend a party rather than host one.

The survey estimates 45 million will throw a party and 69 million plan to attend, although not all at the same house. Another 11 million people will watch the game at bars and restaurants.

As for the menu, the National Chicken Council’s annual Chicken Wing Report estimates Americans will eat 1.35 billion wings this weekend, an all-time high for the unofficial staple of Super Bowl Sunday.

“There will be no wing shortage,” said National Chicken Council spokesman Tom Super in a news release. “Whether you’re a fan of the left wing or the right wing, there’s no debate about America’s favorite Super Bowl food. Although we do anticipate an uptick in chicken cheesesteaks.”
