Weekend Planner: Seafood Festival, Art Fair and More

Autumn is officially here, and South Florida is celebrating with a host of fall-oriented events. Festivals, fairs and parties are abound this weekend, so grab your family and/or friends and get ready to enjoy some fall fun. 

South Beach Seafood Festival

Seafood lovers, this one’s for you. The massive South Beach Seafood Festival will have events on Friday and Saturday featuring Miami’s finest seafood restaurants. On Saturday, pop up cafes from Joe’s Stone Crab to Whole Foods will appear on South Beach, along with an open bar. For information about how to purchase tickets, click here.

Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival

Unlimited carnival rides, an enormous pumpkin patch and a cornstalk maze are just a few of the attractions at the Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival on Oct. 21, 22 and 23. The event will take place at Regatta Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is sure to be a good time for the whole family. General admission tickets are $15. Babies under 24 months get in free. Coconut Grove Seafood Festival 

Another event for seafood lovers: The Coconut Grove Seafood Festival will take place on Oct. 21 and 22. The event boasts more than 25 gourmet seafood culinary partners and is the largest fresh fish market in Florida, according to the official website. The festival is family friendly and features a host of dishes, such as paella, gumbo, jambalaya, sushi and more. Tickets are $15-30. For more information, click here. 

Friday’s Movie Night at Village Design Gallery

Grab your picnic blanket or lawn chair and watch a free movie as the sun sets around the Village Design Gallery in Fort Lauderdale. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the nearby Market and Village Cafe, but you can also bring your own snacks. On Friday, Oct. 20, there will be a screening of Hotel Transylvania. Las Olas Art Fair

Enjoy a wide array of art at the Las Olas Art Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday to Sunday. Admission is free and guests can view exhibits ranging from sculpture to paintings to jewelry. For more information, click here

Harvest Festival at Flamingo Gardens

Enjoy free hayrides, a pumpkin patch, scarecrows and a decorating station at Flamingo Gardens’ Harvest Festival. There is a special theme for each weekend of the festival in October. On Oct. 21 and 22, the theme will be “Superheroes.” The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. For more information, click here.

Thriller Halloween Music Fest

Starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Lincoln’s Beard Brewing Company will be hosting a costume party and music fest, featuring a “Thriller Flash Mob.” The person with the best costume is eligible to win a $100 award. For more information, click here. 

Oktoberfest

Originally a massive, 18-day festival in Germany, Oktoberfest has expanded to several other areas, including South Florida. Oktoberfest drinking events and parties are sprinkled throughout the tri-county area this month. For a full list of events in Miami and Broward, click here.
